Brewery Description

Founded in 1689, the auspicious name, "Hinomaru" was conferred on the brewery by the ruling warlord. It remains the only sake brewery in Japan with the right to use the name Hinomaru,representing "Rising Sun," which is synonymous with Japan.

Current President, Mr. Joji Sato, proudly upholds the 330-year old commitment and devotion to excellence in sake making.

Master brewer, Mr. Ryouji Takahashi is the recipient of the esteemed Imperial Chrysanthemum Yellow Ribbon Award for "unprecedented achievement in sake craftsmanship and exemplary personal character."

Tasting Notes

Hinomaru Ginjo has a clean, refreshing, and semi-dry profile. Its aromas is delicate grapefruit zest and pears, with white stone fruit baked apple, and a hint of spicy custard. On the palate, this sake is lean and crisp with a light, easy finish.

Food Pairing

With it's crisp, clean, and lean profile, this sake pairs best with both raw and cooked green vegetabls, including broccoli, roasted artichoke, and grilled asparagus.  It also complements sushi, shrimp cocktail, oysters, and lightly seasoned chicken.
