Subregions: Valle Maipo, Valle Rapel, Valle Curicó, Valle Maule

One of the most productive and well-known wine growing regions in South America, the Central Valley is nearly 250 miles in length and includes many important subregions in Chilean viticulture. With a wide variance in climate, soil conditions and terroirs, this region is capable of producing a stunning array of wines, from Bordeaux-style blends to blockbuster single-vineyard varietals. The grapes grown in this area are equally varied and some vines are more than 100 years old. These include Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and the ‘lost grape,’ Carmenere. Classic white varietals include Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.
